There are places that encapsulate everything a region has to offer. The castle and its keep
La Roche-Guyon Castle is a layered tapestry of history: a medieval keep carved into the cliff face, classical wings, 18th-century stables, and casemates converted during the Second World War. The climb up to the keep, via the stairs carved into the chalk, offers one of the most beautiful views of the entire Seine Valley — the river’s bends, the hillsides and the slate roofs below.
The vegetable and fruit garden: an unassuming gem
At the foot of the château, the 18th-century vegetable and fruit garden features rows of immaculately tended plots overlooking the Seine. Restored in keeping with its original design, it is open to the public and takes on a new look with each season. It’s the perfect spot for a peaceful break before continuing your walk along the banks of the Seine.

From La Roche-Guyon, the road that follows the river towards Vétheuil and La Roche offers a distillation of the landscapes painted by Monet and his contemporaries. In practice, from the estate
Allow about 40 minutes’ drive from the Clos des Vignes, across the plateaus of the French Vexin Regional Nature Park.
